Stanley John Cope

Stanley John Cope, 72, of Brighton, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Jerseyville Manor.

He was born on June 25, 1951, in Alton, the son of the late Stanley J. and Molly J. (Williams) Cope.

Stan married Barbara Elliott on April 8, 1972, in Hartford. She preceded him in death on November 14, 2017.

He retired from Central Paper Stock in 2019 as the Plant Manager.  Stan was an avid NASCAR fan and loved hot rods and restoring classic cars.  He and Barbara enjoyed traveling and line dancing together.

Stan is survived by two daughters Melodie Cope (Matt Curlovic) of Wood River and Michele Cope (Matt Carter) of Brighton; two grandchildren Hunter and Ashlie Carter; one great grandson Jaxon File; one sister Linda (Lynn) Vandercook.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister Donna Moore.

Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 8 pm on Friday, March 15, 2024, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton.

Funeral Service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials may be made to 5 A’s Animal Shelter.
