Floyd E. Bowers

Floyd E Bowers, 92, of Jerseyville unexpectedly graduated to his next adventure with his Lord on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, 5:25am at his home.

Floyd was born Nov 22, 1931, in rural Jersey County, the son of George W and Beulah(Cope) Bowers and lived his entire life in Jersey County.

Floyd graduated from Jersey Township High School with Class of 1950. He then proudly served our Country in the USA Air Force, during the Korean Conflict.

He married the love of his life Marilyn Wiegand on September 21, 1963 in Jerseyville. She survives.

Floyd retired as a moldmaker from Owens Illinois Glass, Alton in 1993, when the shop closed, having worked for OI for 37 years.  He then worked as groundskeeper for Jersey County Court House for 12 years and as attendant and driver for Alexander Funeral Home for 20 years.  He was an active and faithful member of 1st Baptist Church, Jerseyville where he served at front door as greeter and usher for 52 years.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn; two children Sherilyn (Mike) Imboden-Holland of Hardin, Il and Bruce Bowers of Nampa, ID; two grandchildren Ryan Turner of Jerseyville and Madison Bowers(Rayce Neill, fiancée) of Nampa, ID.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Paul(Eileen) Bowers, Kenneth(Dorothy) Bowers, George(Delma) Bowers, Randy(Pat)Bowers and Charles(Doris)Bowers; sisters Mildred(Claude)Gross, Helen(Bill) Kinsey, Emma (Glenn)Dugger, Lois(Loren) Dugger, and infant Lela Mae; Mother and Father in-law Melvin (Evelyn) Wiegand and sister in-law Vicki Wiegand.

Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 1st Baptist Church, Jerseyville. Visitation will be again on Friday March 15, 2024 at 10 am until service of celebration at 11 am at 1st Baptist Church, Jerseyville.

Burial will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Fidelity, IL.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to his church, 1st Baptist Church.
