Carol Sue Reynolds, 77, of Byrnes Mill, Missouri, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2023, at St. Clare Hospital in Fenton, Missouri.
Born September 21, 1946, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Granite City, Illinois, to Harold and Laverne (Schauster) Hill of Highland. She and her sisters were raised by their foster parents, Carl and Edith Raymond of Woodburn, Illinois.
Carol graduated from Bunker Hill High School, in Bunker Hill, Illinois, in 1964. She married William L. Hanner on February 5, 1965, and had three sons: Allen, Darren, and Kyle. They divorced in 1988 and she later married Gary L. Reynolds in Hillsboro, Missouri, on September 7, 2018.
Carol worked at Olin Corp, East Alton, and many other jobs including, being a licensed hairdresser, ending her working career selling office supplies, which she did for over 41 years. Her passion for helping others was evident even after her passing. Carol, a registered organ donor, was able to give the gift of life to a man in Missouri who was in dire need of a liver transplant.
She is survived by her loving husband, Gary; sons and wonderful daughters in law; Allen Hanner of Wentzville, MO, Darren (Becky) Hanner of Staunton, Illinois, and Kyle (Jolene) Hanner of Staunton; stepdaughter Cheryl (Dave) Lauer of St, Louis; her beloved sisters, Barbara (Hill) Foster, TN, Sharon Hill (Ronald) Orban, of Brighton, and Patsy Hill (Bert) Mary of Brighton, IL; seven grandchildren and many loved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; foster parents; three foster brothers, Carl, Don and Bill Raymond; her two brothers, Carl Dean Hill and Harold William Hill.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton, Illinois. Joyce Anders will officiate.
Burial will follow in Brighton Cemetery.
