David Keith Thaxton, 65, of Brighton, died unexpectedly on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Alton Memorial Hospital.

He was born on December 10, 1957, in Alton to the late George “Grandpa Dick” and Cathleen “Kay” (Walter) Thaxton.

David married the love of his life Linda Schreieck on October 2, 1982, in Brighton. They were blessed with 41 wonderful years of marriage.

He was a retired union flooring installer for Hinges Flooring and proud union member of Local 1310.  David was a frequent blood donor and was able to be an organ donor.  He loved racing cars, and riding his Harley. David was an avid Southwestern Sports fan.  He also enjoyed playing the guitar and spending time with his beloved dogs. His greatest joy in life was creating memories with his wife, children, and granddaughters.

David is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters Sarah (Calvin) Vail of Brighton and Jessi (John) Ashburn of Medora; three granddaughters, Alexis Kay Allen, Jaiden Kaye Thaxton, and Zoey Kaelynn Ashburn; sister Rhonda (Buddy) Maddox; two brothers George “Ricky” Thaxton and Daniel Thaxton; three sisters in law Terri Palmieri, Roseann Hiebert, Bonnie (James) McGuire, and Emily (Ross) Davidson; brother in law Matthew Schreieck; several nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Kay; sister Angela Thaxton.

Visitation will be held from 5 pm until the time of memorial service at 7 pm on Monday, October 30, 2023, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton, Lori Schafer officiant.

Memorials may be made to Southwestern CUSD #9. Please include Middle School Girls Basketball in the memo.
