Donald “Don” William Reno, 89, of Medora, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Jersey Community Hospital.

He was born on August 16, 1934, in Medora, the son of the late William “Sid” and Genevia (Leak) Reno.

Don married Joan Bruns on May 10, 1958, in Pinckneyville, IL, a few day shy of 66 wonderful years of marriage.

He served our country in United States Army, being stationed in Korea following the war.  Don was a farmer his whole life and road commissioner for 30 years.  He was a member of Jerseyville Moose Lodge, transferring his membership to Carlinville when Jerseyville closed.  Don enjoyed spending time working outdoors on the farm and was involved with the Piasa Birds 4H program.

Together Don and Joan raised five children, Shirley (Freddie) Barnard of Calhoun, KY, Bill (Jackie) Reno of Shipman, IL, Jean (Tim) Nale of New Lenox, IL, Curt (Gina) Reno of Brighton, IL, and Barry (Lisa) Reno of Medora, IL; fourteen grandchildren, Jared, Mat, Veronica, Jake, Josh, Nicole, Jennifer, Lauren, Andrea, Michelle, Cody, Seth, Ben, and Joe; eight great grandchildren, Aubrey, Caiden, Adrian, Wyatt, Levi, Hailey, Emma, Jack, and a ninth due in June.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Sid and Genevia; siblings, Ruth Gillespie, Mary Sons, Russell Reno, and an infant sister Bernice Reno.

Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 7 pm on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at St. Johns Evangelical Catholic Church in Medora. Fr. Bill Kessler officiant.

Burial will follow at Shipman Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital or St. Johns.
