James Loren Barrish, 82, of Brighton, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at OSF St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton.

He was born on February 19, 1943, in Litchfield, the son of the late Gradie Fulks-Barrish and James Potter.

Jim was a warehouse worker for GM.  He spent 60 years as a member of Brighton Christian Church and enjoyed traveling, gardening, tinkering on his car, and was a handyman who could fix anything.

He married Brenda Long on February 9, 1963. She preceded him in death on September 21, 2004.  He married Marilyn Milligan on September 21, 2009. She survives.

In addition to his wife, Marilyn, he is survived by two sons Jim Jr. (Karol) Barrish of East Alton and Jason Barrish of Portage, IN; daughter Janice (Chris) Flint of Alton; step daughters April (Terry) Rhyne of Bunker Hill and Autumn (Michael) Karotko of Eagle, ID; seven grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Brenda; two brothers Randall and Donald Barrish.

Visitation will be held from 10 am until the time of funeral service at noon on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton.

Burial will follow at Brighton Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Brighton Betsey Ann Fire Protection District.
