Joe Minton Obituary

Joe William Minton, 79, of Brighton passed away at 5:40 pm on Monday, March 9, 2020, at his home.

He was born on January 6, 1941, in Neely’s Landing, Missouri, to the late Joseph F. and Annabelle (Littleton) Minton.

Joe was a graduate of McKinley High School. In recognition his athletic ability, he was then invited to play football for Kirksville University, now known as Truman State University for which he was awarded a scholarship.

Joe served our country and was a veteran of the United States Army Reserve.

On October 2, 1965, Joe married Mary Ellen Netrval in St. Louis. She preceded him in death on May 15, 2016.

Prior to retirement, Joe worked for Schnucks as a meat cutter for 30 years, member of Local Union 88. His greatest wish in retirement was to drive tractor on some acreage in the country with his family all around him, taking him back to his roots of spending the summers on his grandparent’s farm.

He will be dearly missed by his daughter and son in law, Michelle & Steve Ritzhaupt of Ohio; son Michael Minton of Brighton; 2 grandchildren, Jacob Stephen and Rachel Annabelle Ritzhaupt; sister, Linda Elking of St. Louis, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Steven Minton; one sister, Mary Eisenhauer; and two brothers in law, Ronald Elking and Ronald Eisenhauer.

Visitation will be held on Saturday March 14, 2020 from 12 pm until the time of funeral service at 2 pm at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton with Rev. Joyce Anders officiating.

Per his wishes, cremation rites will follow services.

Memorials may be made to Southwestern Foundation for Educational Excellence.
