Kimberly Joy McKee, 65, of Alton, IL, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Alton Memorial Hospital.

She was born on September 22, 1959, in Cavalier, ND, the daughter of the late Peter and Gladys (Galloway) Johnson.

Kim graduated from Edinburg High School in North Dakota in 1977, and later in life got an associate degree for Human Relations.

Kim’s hobbies include cooking, camping, and sightseeing such as visiting Great Falls State Park and Mount Rushmore. She enjoyed music from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, such as Elvis Presly, Janis Joplin, and Elton John.  She was also an animal lover and known for having cats, dogs, birds, and everything in between.

She married Gordon Mckee, and later divorced before his passing in 2011.

Kim is survived by three children Jeremy Spanier of North Dakota, Joshua (Madlyn) McKee of Alton, IL, and Jessica McKee of Alton, IL; two sisters Katie Steenerson and Karen (Jerry) Spillum; three brothers Kermit (Darleen) Johnson, Kurt Johnson, and Keith Johnson Kim also spent 10 years of her life with her significant other Tim Murphy.

She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Jennifer Spanier-Spillers.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton.

Memorials may be made to American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
