Lois Ann Shields, 91, of Brighton, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026, at LaBella of Alton.

She was born on March 27, 1934, in Carlinville, the daughter of the late Ralph and Velma (Lahr) Waggoner.

Lois married Alfred R. Shields Jr. on July 6, 1956. He preceded her in death in 1995.

She retired from Brighton Pharmacy.  She was a member of Eastern Star, and enjoyed hummingbirds, flowers, and the St. Louis Cardinals.  Lois’s greatest passion though was caring for children and spending time with her family.

Lois is survived by three children, Cindy Hale of Wood River, Jerry (Carmen) Shields of Plainview, and Jim (Jan) Shields, of Siler City, NC; eight grandchildren, Justin, Marie, Ashley, Emily, Jeremy, Andy, Matthew, and Cody; two brothers, John Waggoner and David (Linda) Waggoner; several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter Becky Vanhooser; son Ralph Shields; infant sister, May Elizabeth.

Visitation will be held from 10 am until the time of funeral service at 12 pm on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton.

Burial will follow at Brighton Cemetery.
