Loren “Bud” Eugene Brown Jr., 78, of Brighton, IL, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025, at his home.

He was born on September 5, 1946, in Greenfield, IA, the son of the late Loren Sr. and Georgia (Turner) Brown.

Bud served our country in the United States Navy.  He retired from Conoco Phillips in Wood River, IL as a heavy equipment operator.

He was an avid dirt car racing fan, traveling all over the country to watch races.  He enjoyed spending time outdoors and loved spending quality time with his family while camping.

Bud married Ruth Ann Travers on September 12, 1967, in Benld, IL.  She survives.

He is survived by two children Kevin (Teresa) Brown and Sheila (Marty) Jamison both of Bunker Hill, IL; three grandchildren Lindsey (Kaleb) Kahl, Shelby (Casey) Alexander, and Brandon (Heather) Jamison; four great grandchildren Heidi, Cooper, Jameson, Tate, and one due later this year; three sisters Evon McKim, Patty Worley, and Kathy Snyder.

In addition to his parents, Loren Sr. and Georgia, he was preceded in death by an infant grandson Wes Alexander.

The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life from 1 pm to 4 pm on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at the Brighton Municipal Building.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Brighton Betsey Ann Fire Protection District (BBAFPD).
