Mary Jane Kroeschel, 82, of Chesterfield, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025, in Jerseyville.

She was born on March 12, 1943, in Brussels, the daughter of the late Hubert and Alma (Bick) Seidler.

Janie married Billy Kroeschel on February 6, 1960, in Hardin. He preceded her in death in 2016.

She was a CNA in physical therapy and retired from Carlinville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.  Prior to that she had many different jobs, cooking, working at the glove factory, and working in field detasseling corn.

Janie loved her gardening! Planting, tending, harvesting, canning, and eating.  She enjoyed growing and decorating with her flowers, feeding and bird watching, and above all loved to spoil her family with homegrown and homemade goodies.

She is survived by her son Jim Kroeschel (Melva Gunning) of Chesterfield; daughters in law Janet and Mickie Kroeschel; eight grandchildren, Trevor (Jerilyn) Kroeschel, Craig (Jess) Kroeschel, Tracy (Andy) Rothe, Mandy (Jamie) Erlenbach, Holly (Jimmy) Kinser, Shelby (Mike) Bettcher, Chelsea (Zach) Meyer, and Lucy (Josh) Constable; fourteen great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and her dear friends “The Golden Girls”.

Janie was preceded by her parents; husband; two sons Tom and Tim Kroeschel; siblings Ernest, Curtis, and Margie.

Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 7 pm on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton.

Funeral service will be held at 10 am on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton.

Burial will follow at Wilson Cemetery in Batchtown.
