Nicholas “Nick” Albert Ansell, 28, of Brighton, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born on April 10, 1995, in Alton, the son of Mark and Dawn (Nickels) Ansell.

Nick graduated from Southwestern High School with the class of 2013.  He enjoyed spending his time outdoors, riding four wheelers, hunting, and fishing.  Nick loved spending time with his friends, family, nieces, and nephews, always trying to make everyone laugh and bring a smile to their face.  He had a love for animals, especially his “Fur Babies” Blackie, Darrell, and Rouge.

He is survived by his parents, Mark and Dawn of Brighton; fiancé Alicia Carrigan of Brighton; sister Alisha Ansell of Brighton; paternal grandmother Anita “Eileen Ansell”; maternal grandparents Gerald (Carla) Nickels and Dorene (Johnnie) Sullivant; nieces and nephews, Alayna and Aliyah Schaibly, Melanie, Carter, Mya, and Little Maggie Yost, Shiann and Darrell “DJ” Vinson, Payton, Clayton, and Tayton Bosomworth; several aunts, uncles, family and friends who will miss him dearly.

Nick was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Fred Ansell; “Uncle D” Duane Ansell.

Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 7 pm on Friday, March 1, 2024, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton.

Funeral will be held at 10 am on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton.

Burial will follow at Miles Station Cemetery in Brighton.

 In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Macoupin County Animal Control.
