Thelma Bernice Schall, 83, of Medora passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at St. Louis University Hospital.
She was born on June 19, 1936 in Medora to the late Harry Andrew and Dorothy Marie (Fricker) Cox.
Thelma married John Ronald Schall in Piasa, who preceded her death.
She worked as a cook at different nursing homes, Jerseyville Nursing and Rehab being the last before retiring. She enjoyed Bunco, Bingo, and spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Thelma is survived by her companion John Thornton; three daughters Evelyn Kessinger, Sherrie (Edward) Drennan, and Andrea (Gary) Bierman; two sons Johnny Thornton and Gary (Leann) Thornton; nine grandchildren Kristopher (Tracy) Kessinger, Kimberly Stassi, Jakota Thornton, Ashlyn (Charles) Belangee, Brandon (Ashley) Thornton, Korie Thornton, Ryan Lenington, James (Kaitlin) Lenington, and Heather Lenington; sixteen great grandchildren; two brothers Gerald Cox and Donald Cox.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers Fred Cox, Robert Cox, and James Cox; infant brother Charles Cox; Great granddaughter Miakoda Kessinger.
Visitation will be held from 11 am until the time of memorial service at 1 pm on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Mt Pleasant Baptist Church in Medora with Rev. Ray Robinson officiating.
Burial will be in Medora Cemetery.
